Hello from Alabama was created by rkbonds
I bought my 78 kz650B about a week ago. It's my first bike in a long time and is definatley going to need lots of tlc. The guy I bought it from lost the title before he got it registered so I'm having to apply for a lost title. One good thing is the bike has never been down, but it hasn't been taged since 1984. The only pics I have are of the day I brought it home.

Looks like a good winter project. I'd make sure you can get it titled before you put much work into it. Titling can be a pain.

The bike is going to sit until I get the title Don't want to
waste my time or money if I'm not going to be able to ride it.

Imo, restoration of this bike may not be economically feasible,
because the total overall expense involved could far exceed
the purchase price of another bike in already road-worthy
condition. Before spending any money on restoration,
would make a list of everything needed and the overall expense
involved (include carbs, engine overhaul, numerous parts
and pieces). Honestly, in this circumstance. I would
seriously consider applying my hard-earned money elsewhere
than toward restoring this bike, and just use it as a
parts bike (the carbs are already gone), and perhaps
enjoy a profit by parting it out.
Please don't take this the wrong way, as we all have our
different opinions and priorities, with many decisions
being made from the heart instead of the brain.
You can trust me because I was born in Birmingham,
and spent my childhood in Trussville.
Good Luck!

Hi RK,
Welcome to KZR!
Sorry to say I'm going with Patton on that bike. Even if you got it for free keep in mind a good running 650 can be had easily for less than $2,000.00. In pristine condition it'd be hard to sell one for $3,000.00.
That's not to say you couldn't restore it if you are determined.
