I bought a hot mess of a 77 KZ650 for $200.00 (10k on engine) It was parked in a garage for over 15 years. It had "Dr. Love" on the gas tank, so if it was yours I'm sorry its mine now, lol.
I did the following:
sealed tank removed tags
rebuilt carbs and polished them
new clutch cable
fuel filter
old cafe racer seat (h1 or h2 I think)
relocated the battery and electronics in seat hump
removed fenders front, rear, rear inner
polished fork legs
paint, grips
chopped the exhaust mounted a 2 1/2 inch washer on the back for some backpressure
ground off a ton of brackets and mounts
and a bunch more things I wont bore you guys with
I moved away from asian bikes for awhile but having ridden so many in my youth I'm somehow drawn back to them. Also last pic is my bobber.

Just wanted to say hi and you guys have been a great help. I have lurked on this site for a while and thought I might as well join and share some pics.

Hello, Joe, and WELCOME to KZR!
We're glad you're here!
Thanks for the gallery pics. Impressive work!
Too bad the hot mess of Dr. Love parts was purloined 15 years ago (most likely by some HD reprobate), but you can make everything okay by just shipping the bike to me, no questions asked. Sorry about the $200 and all the work and build costs, but just chalk it up to experience plus reward of a clear conscience. Please remember to include the fenders and extra stuff you failed to mention.

It's amazing where with a little TLC, elbow grease, some fabbing and based on what you had to do to get this old girl up and running, seems small amount of $$$, she looks beautiful.
Now what is needed is a Before and after side profile images...
Well done!
