There is also a Z-1/KZ900 specific online worldwide community. Things are a bit rocky right now because we just shifted over from MSN Groups to Multiply, but its a great bunch of people with a lot of technical expertise on the 900's. You should join up!

you will find what your looking for.. for sure....somtimes they are just hiding.....you should get one thats running if you can ...then youn will know where your at and can take it apart in sessions and ride in between.....i bought a couple recently in pieces and am hoping everything is as it seems and i don't miss somthing big before starting one....it's nice if you can verify that you heard it running.......cool concept about your fathers bike...i got two from a widow of a kz guy and am mindful of that when i work on em ...i wish you lots of luck it'll be fun to watch your search and builds....these guys will help you to no end.....great having you aboard...peace craig.

Welcome aboard! I like that "high five of the United States" I am from Michigan as well (north eastern lower) - never thought of Michigan as a High Five! It may not be economically right now - but it always has been one great place to live!
I cant help you much on a big bore KZ - I have very recently started my KZ570 project.
