I'm New, showing off my "New" KZ650SR was created by troy71mo
I registered a couple of weeks ago and asked about a 1977 KZ1000, but somebody beat me to it
But then I found a nice 1978 KZ650SR and didn't hesitate, called the guy, went to see it Tuesday night, bought it, then picked it up this morning, had it safetied and registered this morning and drove to work. I'm a happy guy.
The original owner took good care of it, had it repainted by a pro in Candy Persimmon Red. The engine and chrome needs some elbow grease to make it shine, and the Clutch sticks a bit, but for a 31 year old bike, I'm really happy.
Here's a pic (I also posted this on the kawasakimotorcycle.org forum, so sorry if you've read this twice):

Heyyyyy, That look's pretty clean. I'm sure the clutch issue isnt too big a deal, Maybe just needs an adjustment. I've never really worked on much of a bike clutch before, so I couldn't give you much advice, Other then to buy a CLYMER manual. They make repair manuals for EVERYTHING, Even right down to the specifics of valve train, clutch repair, Yada Yada. Wont cost you more then 20 dollars. Best investment you could make for keeping that nice bike, Nice for another 30 some odd years;-)

Hey Nice ride.
I bet you the clutch cable has stretched a little. An adjustment should do it.
I have a '78 650 SR. I had a custom paint job done on it though. I get a lot of head turns with mine. You will probably get the same with that.
Happy riding.
