My Custom Bobber 440

You guys wouldn't believe it, but replacing the stock tuned carbs with the properly tuned larger mikuni carb added a lot of power. I originally put it on because of looks, but was blown away by how much more power it gave.

I look like a giant on this thing.. I'm 6'1" tall.

Last weekend's trip down south, my wife and I borrowed dad's road king.

Again, nice job! How about some close ups of the intake manifold? Did you make it yourself? What was the carb off?

Thanks for the good comments! The manifold was made using copper tubing, I believe 1.5" diameter. I took 3 90's and brazed them together. I'll post pic tonight.

The carburetor is a mikuni cv off of a 2004 kfx400 atv. I added larger jets and shimmed the needle. I need to get a bigger pilot jet for the cold mornings. When it's cold, the lower rpm stutters a little. When bike is warm, it runs great from idle to wot and will rev about 1000rpm higher than with factory jetted carbs.

It has digital ignition, so the timing is more or less fixed. I plan on oblonging the holes on the mounting plate to advance the timing to tune further.

I appreciate all the comments from everyone. I did build the pipes- bought a box of scrap bends off ebay for $30 and just pieced it together. Had to make new flanges @ the head with a hammer and small anvil.

Thanks for that info! I have been wondering how to do that. Using paint to shrink every picture takes forever.
