We're glad you're here!
Hoping an in-line fuel filter is fitted.
Dual fuel lines need two in-line filters.
In-line filters are inexpensive and readily available through Z1E, bike shops, etc.
Click > In-line fuel filter from Z1E
Crud or grit already in the float valve may sometimes be successfully flushed out, without needing to remove the carbs.
Crud or grit in the pilot jets as suggested by TeK9iNe, will likely require carb disassembly to access and clean.

hi i posted about the choke issue i was having and such you said something about adding a fuel filter ...i looked and there wasnt one ...and i only have one gas line coming from the tank to the carbs ...should i have two???
Some carbs are fitted with two fuel intake nipples, while other styles have a single fuel intake nipple.
Am thinking the 1977 KZ650 carb has a single fuel intake, which would mean a single fuel line running from the petcock to the carb intake nipple.
The in-line fuel filter should be fitted into the fuel line somewhere between the petcock and carb.
There's an "arrow" on the in-line filter showing direction of fuel flow through the filter.
Good Fortune!

Might consider using Kroil carb cleaner before and during the ride. It's mixed with fuel inside the tank, and sometimes helps clean the carbs internally while riding.
There are several brands of carb cleaner, but Kroil is favored by many folks.
