Hello All!
Newbie here and happy to join your group!
Just purchased a KZ1000 LTD 1979 and wondering if you guys run high test and/or add lead to the gas and avoid the pumps with ethenol added?
Thanks,
KZ1000LTDPENNSYLVANIA

Hi KZ1000PA,
Welcome to KZR!
I avoid the alcoholic fuel. It's no big deal to fill up and run with it but allowing it to sit in the carbs and tank for extended periods is not good.

Greetings!
A few years ago.I lived in Milton.PA., went to school in Sunbury,PA. Did Clinicals in Williamsport, & Danville PA. Loved the area!! Never got used to "SCRAPPLE" , but really liked some of the other favorites, Red Beet Eggs,Tasty Kakes etc. etc.
Here where I live now in eastern Tennessee, the Farmers Co-Ops offer Gas with no Ethanol added! Makes a BIG difference in how my 1975 Z1-B 900 runs. I also find that if I do not get to ride for a month or 6 weeks, the bike starts and runs better on the Plain gas that does not have Ethanol added.
Enough to convince me to pay the extra .05 cents a gallon for gas w/o Ethanol!
Welcome to KZR!!!

Fellow PA guy here. My 78 KZ 1000 runs like crap if I don't use 92 or 93 octane. There is only 1 or 2 places locally I can still get "real gas". The ethanol works OK but I will add some Stabil Marine if I know the bike will be garaged for more than 2 or 3 weeks.
What part of PA? Reading area here.

welcome! I'm from the pittsburgh area, still hoping find some fellow KZ enthusiasts close by.
I dont know about the issues with ethanol, however i do always run at least 93 octance in all my bikes. My friend at Sactuary Kouga Bike Shop told me to do so, and I dont question his advice. He is god of KZ.

Trout Run is a beautiful area! That is a sweet ride on a bike. Also a nice ride is from Mansfield to Coudersport on route 6.

My daughter goes to Lock Haven University as well so I come "up north" quite a bit. Next time I take the bike up that way I'll send a PM and maybe we can hook up for a ride.
