New on the site - Hello everyone. was created by kwaksbass
First let me start with the fact that i actually don't own a Z-bike yet...but...next weekend i will be the hopefully proud owner of a '83 Z1000r with 32000km on the clock.
It's in need of a nearly full restoration so it will be a nice and fun winther project.
I thought i might as well join the club to see what i was getting myself into
A few of the peoble i ride with have Zeds, but i gather the more info, the better.
I always wanted a Z1000, but when i first bought a bike, i went for the "new with no worries" version, so i bought a '04 ZRX1200S which i still use and abuse.
It's not finally decided whether it will be a classic resto, or there will be an amount of costum on the bike. That decision will probably change a fair amount of times during this winther...
I'm looking forward to your company and the many hours of looking, deciding and reading about this bike.
BTW - i live in Denmark, so spelling and the use of certain frases will probably be not all mint but i hope that you will excuse me...

Welcome!
You will find everyone here to be very helpful no matter which route you take with your new project.
Post plenty of pics, and good luck on getting that old Z, you will never turn back

Thanks for the nice welcome
Next few days it will be decided which bike to buy. I have two to choose from:
Bike 1: Z1000r with 32000Km on clock, all original with minor dents on tank...general used look from +30years on paint, engine and frame but otherwise ok. (org. Kerker)
Bike 2: Z1000r with 52000Km on clock. Olihns rearshocks, RAASK (thingy where you put feet on), V/H 4-1 exaust and a mild tuned engine(camshaft). Also used look, same year...'83
My reasoning: To go with the most original bike as that would not have been tampered with, also less km, so probably no need to open engine if it runs ok..alas - "only" take bike apart, clean, paint, new lines etc, but no enginework...Although i like taking thing apart - if it ain't broke...
decisions, decisions...
Cheers, and have a nice day

I'd probably go with the lower mileage bike also. Welcome and pics are always nice.
