Just found the site wish I had found it last fall. I have been in love with the old 900's all of my adult life. I bought my first Z1 off the show room floor in 1974. Since then, I'm on my 2nd 1975 Z1B. I bought the Z1B I now own in 2006 out of Butte MT. At that time it had 6059 miles on the clock.
The bike was not in perfect shape, been repainted black with lack of TLC but was still 4 into 4 exhaust and complete. tool kit was complete including the little feeler gage still wrapped up in the plastic. EBay was not my friend, spent lots of $ replacing some parts which needed replacing.
I decided this winter the old Z1 was going to be a winter project. I found front wheel bearings were bad. So I replaced those and rebuilt the brake caliper. I put All Balls in the triple tree. I had the gauges restored and bought reproduction Super Candy Blue tins. At this very minute, I'm waiting on a new gas cap and the project will be 99% complete.
I also own a red 09 Kawasaki Concours 14. As much as I love the old Z1's, the C14 is a smooth fast highway mile burner that can hold its own on the twisty mountain roads.
I'll post up some pics when the weather gets sunny and I'm done with the new gas cap.
Regards, Tim
