Hello All,
Just picked up an 1981 KZ750 LTD in great condition for a great price......FREE! :woohoo: PO had it garaged but hasn't been started in 15 years and was about to donate it. Pretty excited about getting this ol girl up and running. Haven't decided which direction I want to go with her at this point. The PO lost the keys so Rob here on the forums is cutting me a couple....then I'll start digging into her. I'm sure I'll be hitting you guys up with lots of questions.
Thanks,
Ray

That's a nice looking bike and a GREAT price! It's really hard to beat free.

Hello all, can someone tell me what this is (red arrow)? And if the B/W wire coming from it connects to the ground? The PO had an alarm system installed which I just removed and didn't know if I'm missing something.

I'm not seeing a module with a B/W and L/W wire coming out of it in Clymer wiring diagram either?

That is the accessory fuse box, which has 2 fuses. One fuse is for the black/white accessory lead. The other is for the blue/white accessory lead which probably terminates at the headlight bucket.
FYI. Stock, the acc fuse box sits directly behind the rearward side cover mount, fitted onto a bracket.
In your photo you can see the bracket mounting slot in the rubber.
Here's a site w a manual & wiring diagrams. Scroll down & click "The Bible" link. mbsween.bike-night KZ750L3 page
Some of the wiring diagrams are mislabeled in the links. The 1981 is an H2 & the 1982 is an H3.

Here's the KZ650-CSR electrical stuff which is very similar to your bike.

A little progress last night. Cleaned up all of the spliced wiring and put the new battery in. Pulled the clutch and hit the start button and only get clicking. Tested battery voltage and its strong. Used screw driver on starter solenoid and the tries to turn over. OK.....ordered new solenoid. I did hear some bad noises when she was trying to start though.....not sure if the starter motor is going bad or not. I'll need to clean the tank, carbs and replace fuel lines before trying to start her again. At least I know the wiring is fairly solid for now.
