I'm looking at a 81 kz1100 and was wondering if I could get some real world options. It has been sitting for 3-4 yrs so it's not like I can take it for a spin or even listen to it for that matter. Which doesn't totally scare me just wondering about potential mainly. What I have read is they are fast but not so great on twisties.

Welcome
The KZ's are all fairly bulletproof and it is a pretty fast bike. You shouldn't have a problem with the handling on twisty roads as long as you go into it with the understanding that it is a 30+ year old motorcycle. A lot of people buy these bikes thinking when they put the work into it the bike will run like a brand new 2014 motorcycle with all the modern technology and end up disappointed, however when you get it running correctly it can definitely be a fun bike and a solid daily driver

Welcome to KZR Fire Ranger. You should remember that these older Kawasaki motorcycles can be serious money pits...sometimes you get lucky, but most times they are expensive to resurrect. :)
