hello. My name is shark. I'm 25 and live in sf Bay Area. I wouldn't normally say that but I don't feel safe saying what city I'm in. Lol damn creeps. But anyhow. I got a beat up 80 ltd550 from a buddy for about $250. It started but has a lot of problems. I'm hoping to get it going with y'all help and build a bobber.

They are really nice bikes. Why would you want to hack it up?

Well to me they are super ugly. The bike was somewhat dumped on me. And I'm still torn between messing with it or just selling. My dream bike is a ninja 650r which I might be able to pick up in a month or so

If you feel that way, I wouldn't spend any time at all on it... just move it along. The Ninja, which you really want, is so radically different, there is no reason for you to hesitate on the decision.

I know and I was going to do enough to get it running it ok and resell it to double or triple my money. My lady wants me to keep it since I got it for so cheap. She said it would be cool to have 2 bikes

This how the bike looks now. Took the carbs off to clean them and removed the gas tank and seat. The fairing is coming off as well. Don't know if I should keep going. But the project does seem like it would start off fun. I have the handle bars picked out along with eh solo seat and headlight

Your best bet might be to work through the problems if you can do it cheaply, then flip it for some more $$$ for your Ninja. I answered your live lighting circuit problem, which clearly isn't being powered off the igniton switch.

Loads of bikes get hacked up but only the minority get really nicely done, doing it well probably costs more time and cash then you might think.
