I'm a transplanted Brit. Moved to North Carolina back in 1991. Have long-suffered the 'old-bike' disease. Right now I'm in the middle of rebuilding/restoring my '75 Z1B which I've owned since 2005. I had it in deep storage for the past five years, while I put the last of my boys through college. Now that cash flow has eased up some, I decided it was time to take her out of the mothballs and do what I'd always planned.
I'm going the 'back to original' route, simply because I've always loved the stock Z1 look with its 4-4 exhaust system etc.. I don't have any issues with anyone who customizes their ride for better performance and handling etc.. I'm all about some well thought out and well engineered modifications. Just not on this bike!
Maybe I'll hot-rod one of my other bikes when I'm finished with the Z. (Saw a wicked XR650L with the Super Motard treatment)
Anyways, just thought I'd say 'Hi', and I look forward to getting advice from those who know these bikes far better than I do!

Well spotted, Pete! Yes - that's the front of my Factory Five Racing Cobra replica that I'm still in the process of building. I'm a sucker for punishment - always having more than a couple of projects underway at any one time. All of them had to be put virtually on hold for a long while during which I put three sons through college (2006 - 2015).

Thanks Bama! I'm out in the boonies, but not too far from High Point/Greensboro.
I love all of the early Z's/KZ's. A friend of mine back in the UK has a mint '76 KZ that he's owned since 1979/80. Bought it with less than 5K miles on it, and I'd be surprised if it has any more than 10K on it now.
