Just picked up a 76 KZ900

Yes, nice survivor! But is it me? Or are those tank decals placed a little off? Looks like a re-paint job.
I sent one back to "KAZ" from California to Japan. I should have kept. I paid $500, sold extra parts, kept some, this one was all matched, never had screw drivers on it. 12,000 miles. Sat since 1996

We're running a set of those on one of our Z-1's now. If they prove robust we'll convert all of them. The best we've been able to get out of the OEM fuel T's with 10% ethanol fuel is 3 - 4 yrs.

That's a nice find!

Good advice too re: the JIS screwdrivers. Well worth the price.

If the tires are truly 40 yrs. old I wouldn't trust them for any significant distance. Tires age out in addition to wearing out. They're really more valuable as is. If this is going to be a rider, fresh rubber is advisable. A collector or restoration specialist would be interested in buying the original rubber.

Thanks a lot different than the Busa's I had. One was a turbo the other was a little closer to stock :laugh:

I'm not yo much in leaving things stock. But I think I'll leave this stock.

Not sure about the emblems. I looked it over didn't see any that would indicate it was repainted

Won't be a daily rider. Just once in awhile. Most likely I'll take them off and store them. And out some new treads on.

I think you're right. Both the Marsden and Hesse books show the bottom stripe parallel to the bottom of the tank.

also
squirt some carb cleaner daily on the leaky fuel T, might swell it up to usable. Nice bike enjoy it !

Not sure on the tank,I guess anything is possible.

Not a deal breaker for me, I'll ask the guy. He was the original owner. I have all the original paperwork

When rebuilding my forks and doing some other work on the bike over a winter I had drained the carbs, removed the tank, and taken my bike in the house for several months. The carbs and "T" fitting were then dry. In early spring I took the bike outside, refitted the tank, and turned on the fuel. The "T" leaked badly! I shut off the fuel and searched online for a new "T" fitting. Before I could find and order a new one I tried the bike again and to my joy the leak had completely stopped. That was 9 years ago and the "T" has not leaked a single drop since then. Ed
