I'm a 50yrs youngish Brit, recently returned from a long stay in Japan (20 yrs).
I used to ride CB400's in Tokyo as there was a limit on engine size for us Brits, It has changed now but back in the day you could only ride a 400 on a full British bike license unless you took their big bike test.
I am only a rider and know jack shit really about mechanics but am hoping to learn from all you guys n gals.
Currently I have 2 bikes pictured below. (3 if you include my 400 Majesty scooter )
Green one is a 1978 (650) with an 1984 750 engine chucked in.
Blue is a 1980 Z750.
I changed the bars on the green one and added some green cables but that's about it.
I have only just picked up the blue one a few weeks ago and have not touched it really.
I'm a spray painter and powder coater by trade.
I love Japanese bikes (notice I didnt say Jap, not fond of that word, don't think my Japanese kids would like me too much if I did )

The new to you Z750 has a Z650 tail.
Could she be another 650 with 750 engine and side covers?

Sorry for the late reply,
Regarding the blue one, you may be right!! I will have to look into it and check with Kawasaki, alternatively it may have had the tail fitted from a Z650.
The guy I bought it from seems to have done lots of little bits here and there to it.
