Z1e sells a good replacement Master cylinder for dual disks and I would take the sticky caliper off the bike ,remove the dust boot , squirt a little Dot 3 around the piston and let it soak a while before pushing it back in.

I have always been reluctant to take any shortcuts with brakes. I would completely disassemble the sticky caliper and very carefully clean and inspect it. A sharp pick with an angled tip will be a great help getting all the junk out of the seal grooves. Light pitting in the caliper bore below the seals is usually no problem. Pitting on the piston where it rubs against the seals can lead to leakage.
New seals, as long as they are available, are usually cheap and easy to install. A light coat of quality caliper grease or even clean brake fluid will make reassembly go smoothly. Seems to me like very little effort and money to have full confidence in the brakes.

It needs a m/c rebuild and I will probably just rebuild the calipers as well.

Also carefully inspect the flexible lines. If the outside rubber coating is stiff and cracked, it is time to toss them. Also, barnacles can build up inside the hose, which can block the flow of fluid.
Yes, a complete rebuild of the brakes can get expensive and time consuming, but it still beats a trip to the e. r.
