Hi all,
I've finally decided to register and join after occasionally browsing for almost a year.
In December of '21, I was the lucky recipient of a '95 KZ1000P project. Some of the repairs had already been done, and the prior owner needed it gone from his garage. He had tried to sell it, unsuccessfully (everyone wanted to cherry-pick parts, not buy the whole project). In his frustration, he decided that the first person to commit to finishing the bike and riding it would be gifted said bike. So, I contacted the gentleman, discussed the particulars, promised him first right of refusal if I sell, and made the trip to central VA from Baltimore MD to gather the bike and its parts. It's a documented CHP bike, right down to the name of the officer who rode it it's entire service life.
This isn't my first foray into a project bike, or vehicular projects in general. I've restored a few Yamaha XS650s, built a 650 chop/bob from frame-up (homemade hardtail), rebuilt a Honda CM400T as my first street bike, and cobbled together an abused '79 Suzuki PE250 as my first bike back in the mid 80's. I've also restored my early '65 Mustang from a bare shell (I've owned it since '91), helped restore my dad's '67 Mustang fastback, and we're currently working on his '72 Bronco and '66 Fairlane XL 4 speed. My very first experience was cobbling together a '69 Bronco as my first vehicle in the mid 80's. I've been a Ford dealer tech, a trainer for Ford in the mid-Atlantic, and now a professor of automotive technology at a community college.
I just wrapped up another project (friend's vehicle), and will be getting the KZP out of storage to work on over the winter. I'm looking forward to my first experience in its saddle.
Also, one of my students discovered my interest in the KZs, and brought me a '79 KZ400B frame and front end, and a KZ750 engine. Gotta love it when folks bring you free stuff!
I probably won't be on here regularly, but look forward to all interactions with the members. Thanks for having me!
Jim

Hello Jim. You and I may have been separated at birth. I also have a KZP, Early Bronco, and a '65 Mustang restomod. Good luck with the KZP project.

Welcome.
I too had a 2002 KZP which my brother now has. How many miles on yours?

I'm not sure, off the top of my head. I'll be getting it out of storage (friend's garage) in a few weeks. I'll look then.
