That's normal, as with any vehicle.  Some of the 79 models were made in the 2nd half of 1978 & the rest were made
in the actual model year, 1979.  

This is because car and bike factories alike "re-tool" for the new model year during the Summer "shut down" so depending on brand, the start of the next model year is normally between June - August

Your 650 did clean up nicely.
If you can't find a key locally, I can make them by the key code number.
Check ebay for original keys too.
