They certainly are beefy looking, but they really are light being made from aluminum with cromoly steel stanchions at the bottom.

First off, Awesome bike! I really like what you are building.
fossil, wireman; next time Im over to dads shop I'll try to remember to weigh and compare my KZ650 forks to the USD ZX7 forks, and I'll check for the balance point to see which end is heavier. just to get some hard data up for discussion:)

Hey 77KZ650.. Thank's !

To read from your profile, yours are going to be a sweet ride as well.. have you posted pic. in the gallery or ?

About the front, I dont know, I just wanted som retro style, with moder specification, and one that did not leak.. I got the chance to buy the hole shit, really cheap..so i did. then I had to do minimal modifications.. and the style looks retro/modern eghnough to me..

Nothing is up in the gallery yet, I wish I had of put up a "before" pic, but I dont have any. its just going to be the finished product in the gallery when Im done. I do have some progress pics up through some various posts, but Im not done building yet:P I like the retro/modern look, but I wanted to go all out(on a budget, gotta love ebay sometimes) and build what I think is the ultimate streetable stock-motor-based KZ650 using only custom parts, Kawasaki parts, and aftermarket parts for Kawasaki. My goal is for people to look at it, and not know exactly what it is, just that it looks fast, mean, and its all Kawasaki.

OK guys, the results are in. I only had access to digital bathroom scales, so the measurements are accurate to the pound.
KZ650 fork=10 pounds
ZX7 USD fork=10 pounds:laugh:
no noticeable weight change, the scales usually flicker if they are close to the next pound up or down, and they were solid on both readings.
both forks also balanced right about the middle, meaning both ends weigh about the same, so even though the USD forks look big and top heavy, they have the same weight characteristics as the regular old KZ forksB)

Hey Nex, welcome aboard, good to see another Dane around, I´m in Silkeborg. Cool looking bike and very nice work, I like the style you´re going for.

Don´t know if you already know but there are quite a few KZ nuts over here in Jylland, here are a couple of links that might interest you:
