KZ1000A1 Spare Parts Project was created by calum
I tallied up the left over parts from my restomod build and I'm only missing the following parts for a second build:
- Cockpit
- Indicators and headlight
- Tank

Maybe a few other small parts to replace stuff I can't rescue but I've almost got everything I need.

The frame has been straightened and I took the crank to get balanced when I dropped off the restomod frame. When I pick the frame up I'll take the hubs and rims to get relaced. I'll probably do most of the painting parallel to the restomod work. This will be a low budget project - get everything as nice as I can and make sure the engine runs well without replacing parts unless absolutely necessary. Will be trying to restore it to the original state (will have a few repro parts though).

That statement sounds very subjective to me!

As with all project vehicles, no mater the number of wheels, it is a slippery slope you are standing at the edge of.  At some point in the process, there is a huge conflict between the desire and the wallet.  Which one wins usually involves a significant other, if you have one!  If you don't have one, the remainder is won by hunger.

I have two significant others at the moment. One is sitting next to me on the couch - the other is the restomod project that wants to be the only one I spend my money on ;)

Glad I am not the only one working on two bike projects at the same time.  And my neighbor's 38 Dodge Bros Business Coupe hot rod.

That '76 is a really nice build - but it needs an engine :)

Yes it does. Waiting on a crankshaft. I’ve been assembling the last few internal parts while I’m waiting. Other very generous members here offered to help, one was quite a drive and the other offered me up his spare. The latter has a Life rule that two is one and one is none, so I know how important that part is to him. I’m trying to take the path of least resistance and go with a third member that offered one up. He has been on a long trip out of state, he recently caught up with me through email said he was home and was working on packaging so that it can be shipped safely. I am holding out on the last high dollar item that seems to be a very expensive part for its physical size. It is a very important component being the upper cam chain idler assembly . I could buy Liska for cheaper but the nut and bolt rivet counter in me is really pushing back on that . NOS are around $200 plus shipping and that has been a hard nut to crack.

I bought all new cam chain gears and rollers for my other project and am hoping there are enough good parts from the two engines to reuse on this project. The engine will probably end up costing more than I would like, though. I can always replace/restore other parts that aren't quite up to standard over the next few winters, but I don't want to be going back into the engine for a good while.

Gathered up all the parts for powder coating today. Did the math and was surprised to see that powder coating works out cheaper. The main problem is that I don't have a spray room anymore and need to rent by the hour - not enough room here to just have at it in the garden either.

Ended up with a pile of nuts and bolts etc. for plating as well. Will have to get cleaning sometime soon.

Can anyone tell me what these parts are?

And what this hook is for?
