Im looking at getting a set of downpipes and fitting a different silencer ( I really dont like the cone style )
The question is though, will the set for a KZ1000LTD (offered on the Delkevic website) fit on my KZ1000CSR (1980)
Is there a difference twixt an LTD and a CSR, other than cosmetic (wheels and clocks) ? I know they both use the J model engine but what about the frame. ?

Just putting it out there...

I sent an email to Delkevic asking if any would fit my KZ550. They said to check back in the summer and they might have more options available.

The exhaust on the KZ1000K and M models will interchange without any issue.

Well that just adds more confusion ! I just had a look at the American Delkevic site which offeres me a choice of KZ1000 B1,B2,B3 or B4 LTDs covering 1977 to 1980, wheras the English site has only one KZ1000LTD (77-80) .Now
you say there a K and an M model??
I know the M model is the CSR so I assume the K model is the LTD but whats the difference twixt a B1,2,3 and 4 ?.
If theres no difference, why does the American site give me a choice?
Ive been in touch with my local Delkevic dealer (in the Netherlands)and hes not much help. He also isnt prepared to offer me a refund on return,if the pipe dosnt fit as there is not much demand for these pipes and he has to order it in especially!!!
Ive also emailed the English Delkevic people but I havent heard anything back from them yet. All I want to know is
which pipe do I need to order to fit my (1980)KZ1000CSR?

P.S. Jeff,Im not having a go at you,Im just a bit frustrated that its such a drama to order a fecking exhaust. Thanks for any information.

You say you have a CSR - that makes it a 1981 or 1982 model. The steering head might show a date of manufacture in 1980 as they start manufacturing the new year bikes in the last 4-5 months of the old year.

What is your VIN or Engine number? Alternatively, what cc size is cast into the cylinder block (barrels) on the lower right front?

The 1977-80 KZ1000's are different. While the header pipes are the same, the rear mount is not.

If you enter that VIN at kawasaki.com it pulls up parts diagrams for a 1981 1000 CSR. Is that the question?

The Kaw List:
Current: 79 KZ1000 A3 MKII, 78 KZ1000 A2, 78 KZ1000 Z1-R, 78 KZ650 SR, 80 KE175

As 79MkII mentioned - that's an 81 KZ1000-M1 (CSR). You need the COM2780 pipe.

Isn't the US Distributor right down the street from us here in Denver? Or is that just an office address...?
I haven't asked, but is there a show room to look them over.
I know they were at the Denver Bike show a month or two back.
My old Denco 4-1 pipes are really starting to show their age and even though not chrome over steel, the retail price of these Delkevic pipes, vs others, seems like a reasonable one ....for a change. :cheer:
