Asking and getting are two entirely different things.

Well said Warren. I work in a place that does mainly GT750 Kettles and the prices are going down of late. But, all prices of bikes to restore are going up??? Will it all end in about 10 years or so?

Think it'll be sooner than that Rob. I often get offered bikes for restoration but the owners have no idea what it costs to restore a bike properly. Add that to the price the owner expects to achieve for his/her rust heap and its not cost effective to do it even if there was no labour costs involved you'd be lucky to break even.
Thats why there's restored on the cheap bikes advertised at silly top money that don't sell.
The only bikes selling for top money are the 100% original bikes. But to make them that you need 100%  original good condition parts but they  are top price also.
You'd be hard pushed to restore for a profit in the UK these days and with the cost of living where it is no one, except for the collector 100% original bikes, is buying.
I was offered a a4 last week, seller wanted £7k, at least 50% of it was either z1000 a1/2 or crap quality repop.  It didn't even run.
He wasn't very interested in my £2.5k offer  .  Surprise, surprise he still has it.
What really makes me laugh is if you go see a bike and point out what's not right or needs doing to justify your offer you get called a rivet counter.
