Looking good!

Are you concerned you might grind up that exhaust on anything more than a casual left hander? It looks a tad low for spirited corner carving.

Just discovered this post, what a superb bike. I've always wanted to turbo my Z650 but even though I've been a mechanic for years I don't have all the technical engineering knowledge to do what you've done, great bike, really well done.

Just curious to know if running the turbo with the carbs would be the better rout to take then running tb's ( obviously efi is going to cost big $$)

Nice work Steve, in another dimension from the usual fancy paintwork, bolt on bits, upgrading and detailing that most of us here settle for.

I like the way it is still unmistakably a z650 at a glance, but so different also.
That 'see through' no sidepanel look is cool.

I too want CNC machines making bits for me whilst i am asleep!

Steve, the bike is beautiful. I am at a loss for words. What's the story on the swing arm? I'm looking for an box swing arm for my 1979 KZ650. That bike is awesome.

S_J_H wrote: Yes-sir-e-Bob! We now have front turn signals too!

I know a lot of guys ditch the turn signals or replace them with little itty bitty led pods of some sort.
But I like the factory turn signals! They are Big, fat and heavy! Just like I like my...no no no....

But they do seem to just "fit" this old school hotrod I'm building.

This SR had them mounted on the handlebars as stock. I moved them to the lower fork clamp.
I did not have any long metric bolts so I retapped the clamp for a larger and beefier 1/2"-13 thread and used grade 8 bolts.
Then I turned up a couple of spigots for the turn signals to clamp onto and some beauty caps to cover the hex head. Everything easily clears the tank at full lock. .

I timed and tested the dyna 2000 ign and it works perfectly. Good strong spark. I mounted the ign box above the plenum box.

The seat is just resting on the frame. It snugs down tight to the frame and tank when bolted in. I seem to be having issues with the camera showing the correct color of the paint with the florescent lighting.

Steve

That is one awesome bike! I'm curious to know about the seat. Is it something you fab ? I'm looking for a seat like that for my bike.

The guy that built that bike hasn't logged on to this site in 4 years, so I doubt you'll get a reply. Maybe he sold it? Ed

Hello Everyone, the man who built this bike was my Dad and he unfortunatley passed away a few years ago. I'm looking to sell this bike because I have no knowledge on motorcycles and I'm not interested in riding one at this time. If anyone can possibly be so kind to help me with coming up with a reasonable price to sell this for. I have no idea what this bike might be worth. Can anyone please help me with how/where/how much to sell this bike for.

I appreciate all the kind words that were said on this forum about my Dad's bike. He truly had a talent when it comes to machines/mechanics.

Thanks for all your help.

Steve Junior

Sorry to hear about your loss. Are you sure you want to sell it? Sometimes a machine with a story will garner more interest and get a better price. I would memorialise it with receipts and other information it comes with. What better way to honor his build?
