Very nice... Just make sure you take plenty of pictures of that hallowed ground with you screaming down the flats. I wish I woulda stayed a bit longer to play. If I had a jeep I woulda done it for sure.;)

A step closer. Got the valve clearances in spec and closed up, last night got the carb's installed after rebuild/bench sync and clear tube calibration.

Oh Please, Oh Please start tomorrow

If all goes well, some new throttle cables, some safety wiring of the oil drain plugs, securing front axle nut and mounting my numbers :woohoo:

In a word…. It was just, AWESOME, FANTASTIC, EXHILERATING, MIND BLOWING FUN!!!! (One word just can’t do it justice)

Seriously, just things like meeting Chris & Rocky & Leslie where just awesome, talking to all the different teams (such a foreign showing) and then the actual participation on the salt…. Images still get me drifting away at times.

My goal was to take a 130mph at 980 elevation to Bonneville with an adjusted elevation of 6,300 and break the century mark. After the initial scrutineering of my bike (passed with flying colors) my Pit Boss (Melissa my girlfriend) and I lined up at 11:45 in pre-stage for the assault. It was not until 1:33 that I made my run on this legendary piece of ground. THANK GOD for Mel, her umbrella & water runs during the wait. But even in line at the 2 different staging zones the people you meet and the bike discussions where very cool.

So I get called out, throat dry, heart pounding…. I am running the Mountain-short course (3 mile) with timing mile at 2-3. Instructions are wet salt in timing mile and take all I want for slow down. Get the green flag, run through the gears hit fifth just coming into time with throttle pinned…. Tach swings and I feel the rear letting go. At 100mph I am fishtailing about 4-6 inches each way, decided to keep her pinned and drift into some dryer conditions hoping my ass would follow my front wheel. Come out of my timing mile and have probably the longest de-acceleration of my life bringer her down into a safe turnoff speed in the salt crunchies. And then it hit me… I Just Ran the Bonneville Salt Flats. Motored back to our pits and Mel came back from my start and off we went to pick up my timing slip. I was ecstatic with salt conditions and elevation I ran 104.343 Whooo Yaahhhh, goal met.

Attached are a few pic’s clicked by Mel and our pit neighbors and the next day I told her that I’ve been bit… Going back next year and spending some time to actually tinker and tweak. Hell I didn’t blow her up so we must go again

me and a freind of mine are building a couple of motors each so we can hit a couple of different classes i have the heads and cranks done for both of my motors already i looking to find a set of 12-1 plus under 1000 pistons and a 1327 big block to finish the motors off i have both sets of cases done as well at higher elevations and with really low humidity and high tempratures like you can experiance at bonnieville you can use all the compression that you can put into a motor. the only problem i can forsee is that they use a spec fuel so it will be hard to test without it. i have multiple sets of carb's to experiment with and so doesn't gerald so if nothing gets hurt we should make these old girls fly we are looking at going in 2011. any advice besides bring plenty of water.and lots of gear

Dude! Is all I gotta say is gargantuan nads! I took my car down and at that speed started to spin and slow down. I would never dream of doing it on two wheels! Bully for you! I'm proud.

timebomb33, sounds like a fun project.... Shade, shade, shade for in the pits and at the longgggg staging area waits. An umbrella is your best friend once suited up.

Are you planning on BUB's all motorcycle speed trials or SCTA's speedweek.

I will tell ya it is adictive, I am soooo going back next year and working through what mods will be done to increase speed.

good luck on your build.
