Got my hoses run, going to Chaparral for a tire Monday coming back from my daughter's.Alternative Hose is on the way. I'll pick up the fitting then.

I guess I could have gone 3/8" line and fittings but 1/2" is better for oil flow. I didn't think of A/C lines, I might be able to get the sizes I wanted to go to the cooler too.

Something to think about. The oil galley comes up from the filter, through the pressure switch, then goes to the mains, tranny and up to the head. Restricting the passages going to and from the cooler will restrict the amount of oil going everywhere else. That can't be a good thing.

Hey Steve, now I see what you were talking about on that other oil cooler thread. Do your engine fittings actually have a 3/8" threaded hole? That does seem very small. My oil cooler and engine fittings are 1/2" NPT by 3/8" barbed. I knew I had 3/8 hose and was thinking 3/8 threaded also but they are definitely half inch on the threaded end.

My old ones that were destroyed in the fire were 1/2" barb. The ones I just bought don't have enough meat to drill and tap larger. Can you take pics with a rule to show the sizes? The intakes on the cooler look like 1/2 but the fittings look like 3/8's.

The inside diameter coming from the oil pump galley is 11.78mm/0.463", not quite 1/2" on the fittings I bought. The threaded part ID is 11.24mm/04.43". It remains to be seen what the oil galley sizes are in the case. I may have to open them up as well. We'll see.

On my set up, the fittings for the engine adapters and the oil cooler are the same. The maximum OD of the male threads is .527. I assumed that was 1/2" but forgot that NPT sizing is very unique. I think the .527 OD is actually 1/4" NPT. So not sure what size they are technically, but they physically measure just over 1/2". The ID of the female threads is .437". That is at the tip of the threads, the smallest part of the hole. The barbed portion for the hose end measures .375" OD (on the smaller part, not the flare/barb).

Would the galley plug on the RH side of the engine allow a view of the actual oil galley size? I'm not sure if it's the same there?

>5 is 1/2" Yes the oil inspection plug when removed should revile the galley size.

NPT sizing is very strange....1/2" OD measured is 1/4" NPT

If you'll look further you'll see the 1/4 comes with two different barb sizes, 1/4" and 3/8". The threads and bore are tapered so they will seal themselves. A/C fittings are a whole different animal.

Sure, if you only want a larger barb, that's easy enough. From what I understand, you want a larger threaded hole in the engine adapters too, correct?

Why not go -6 AN?

Maybe I'm not understanding what you're after exactly, but I guess what I'm saying is this: It seems that 1/4" NPT, like what you have, seems to be very common on the KZ engine adapter fittings. I think you'd be fine with 3/8" hose. If you'd rather go 1/2" hose, just buy adapters to go from the 1/4" NPT to 1/2" barb (or -8AN).

Are there adapter blocks out there that use anything larger than 1/4"NPT? I don't believe I've seen them myself, or maybe just never noticed.

If I go with the 1/4 npt the ID will be 8.74mm. If I adapt a 8 AN barb, I will have 1/2". That's what I'm shooting for.
