Flash Rust post Evaporust KZ Tank: PICS was created by DanMadBoy
I noticed a little bit of flaky rust in my KZ750 Tank.

Evaporust arrives today via Amazon. I have a water distiller at home (I havent drunk tap water for over 10 years - dont eat red meat either, but I digress..) and plan to wash the tank with it after emptying the Evaporust.

I also bought WD40 corrision inhibitor spray, but wonder if there is a better way to stop the almost instant flash rust that occurs?

Try the search function.  This topic has been discussed many times.

BTW, that WD-40 stuff is the wrong stuff.  Regular WD-40, in large quantity, would be more appropriate.

I called WD-40 makers and they said, in the case of preventing tank flash rust, this works BETTER than their regular stuff. Im using it.

Prior to moving my KZ cross country here in the U.S., I had to drain the fuel tank and was quite concerned with flash rust that might occur with the fluctuating humidity. The only thing I had on hand was a can of  Remington "Rem Oil" gun lubricant spray. I fogged the inside of the tank liberally and had no issues at all with flash or surface rust, even today, a yr a half later.  Don't get rusty.....

No special potions needed.
Once cleaned out just fit and fill the tank with fuel asap and keep it topped up.
If the tank is going to sit empty a while then simply pour in some thin oil and rotate the tank until the inside is coated.
Both tried and trusted, simple and effective methods that have served many well since the invention of the motorcycle.

Evaporust needs to be water rinsed, and that's when the flash rusting occurs.  I'm not so sure about putting gas in the tank unless it's dry, unless you are going to use the gas to flush out any water, and if so, there are better products.

I use alcohol right after the water rinse, dump it out, then hit the tank with WD-40, and compressed air.

I just used some Bel Ray 2 stroke oil.
You may want to fill it up with high octane if you do this.
I've heard the oil will lower the octane rating.
