I have the swing arm shock mounts removed (Ed did that too), so some pictures will follow in a day or so.

Gonna line up the shocks, clamp the new mounts down, pin them, then Eds buddie will weld them in place.

Soon as I get the rear shocks all cyphered, I'll Cypher the rake.

This is how I did the rear shock traingulation to make certain they are paralell, and square.

Making the Mounts and then lining them up, that was plenty of work.

A good welder hates it when he gets a freaky funky set-up, cause so many people blame the welder when something gets moved all out of whack during the weld process.

In the Patternshop (yea i are a journeyman Patternmaker) we always pinned stuff that needed to stay in just the right place.

I used some 1/8" aluminum welding rod to pin the brackets into place after positioning them. A chunk of 3/8" ready rod also keeps them in place, and a set of Kant twist clamps. Now the welder has no worries.

After they are welded down, the welder just needs to melt the Aluminum rod right into the 4 holes drilled for them (the pins). I will then blend the surface, so you will never know there were pins there.

The pins....

No worries TK. It is not vitally important to line up front and rear tires exactly spot-on. My guess is that you´ll have to move rear tire to right to make chain clearance. Lining up the chain is more important.

My 2 sprockets line up perfectly.
Next time i need a new chain i think i will Squeese the frame a bit more and get an O ring chain.
Now that u have welded the shock mounts on, u have selected your rake, haven’t u?
by moving the mounts forward or back u will raise or lower the rear end, thus adjusting the rake. i found that 1 inch change in rear height = about 1 * of rake change.
I tried to get my bike to sit level and the rake was about 27*. now that I have the shocks upright the rake is 22.5*. Too steep.
how did u determine where to place the upper and lower shock mounts?
Do u know what your spring rates are yet? or what kind of the shocks were used on last?

I'll tell you, I am thinking I'll have about .040" clearance between the frame and the chain. Yours looks about like .060".

So I am thinking while looking at the photo...crap what if thats a 520?

Now I know you have a 630, so not so worried.

The rake, now the swing arm is at Eds waiting for a tig welder. I need the wheelbase to cypher the rake.

What is the exact distance from the frame mount to the rear axle on your swing arm? with that information i could cypher the rake without my swingarm.

So I am putting on the details drain tubes etc. and had to figure out a way to sanitize the float drain tubes.

I had a scrap chunk of urethane, drilled four holes in one end. 1 hole out the other.

I took a 1/8" drill and connected the four holes to the single one.

Slipped the float bowl drain tubes into the fitting, with a dab of silicone to seal it, then ran a single tube out the back, looks much nicer.

As you recall, you did have problems that one day, while leading the pack of scooters down the straight stretch at SRP! A little to hot in the turn, to many hard parts on the ground, wheels up...well you can see the results! Hope you learned that some things are not ment to turn!
