That's crazy! I've never seen a set up like that....the rotating axis must vary on the machine end? I don't see how a normally rotating bit could produce a square...how do they do it?

I did the square hole the old fashioned way, on the Bridgeport....

I work in a large Machine (job shop) in Nevada, I would like to see this square bit in action, there has got to be something about it that makes it more practical to mill a square hole.

I have a derailing question??

Is there a West Coast gathering of KZ Riders? Like an annual event? i would like to see (bikes this the photo) in person.

Ok the Bike is running, and at my friends shop.

We are waiting to Dyno it, as the jetting is quite lean. Dyna supplied a new box, and crank trigger.

It took awhile but in the end the service from Dyna was acceptable.

I will try to keep posting.

Woo hoo, I checked on it today, the bike is in good hands, and getting a full preflight check. Still waiting on the dyno, and the jetting is extremely lean.

Smokie burnout soon.

Update:

I think Steve is starting to like having the bike in his shop, it gets alot of attention. This is cool for me because most of the better riders in the area know of the bike but have never seen it. So when they pop into Steves shop; there it is.

It's winter, I have the track bike up on the Bench in my garage, so there is really no room right now for the KZ. It can sit at Steves for a while. Meantime, it's just waiting to get rejetted, and dyno.

I would post a pic of the track bike, but that is kinda Hijacking my own thread. I will be glad when it warms up a bit and the tracks open up again in the spring.

Ok I bought this track bike from a dear friend of mine. It's a 99 R-6, I am getting it ready for the season, starting with the front brakes.

My good friend Dave tells me to buff out the cutter marks (polish) the brake pistons.

While the R-6 has nothing to do with the KZ forum, this theory seems to apply if you are rebuilding the brakes on any bike.

Long ago, before Ti coating on forks was around, we used to put them in a lathe, and polish the Heck out of 'em. this made for a smoother operation, less "stiction" (friction) between the seals and the fork legs.

The same rule applies for brake pistons, and it is real easy to do. A word of caution however... I flang one piston off the buffer, this cost me 95 dollars to replace, as it got dinged when it hit something hard, like the drills next to my drill press I think.

Check out the photo, and think about this when you rebuild your brakes next time.
