Adjusted the fuel-level in the carbs yesterday, and put them back in the bike, let the old oil flow out, change the oilfilter,... petcock to the tank, and now it´s nearly ready for the first start + run after 17 years sleeping...

Joe, I understand about small garages. Our house was built in 1936 when garages were sized to fit a Model A Ford, about 10ft x 19ft. (It's where I keep my 1947 Ford and it just fits!) Since there's no room in the "car closet" for the Z1, during the riding season it has to live in the shed or under a bike cover. During the off season the Z1 is at my friend's shop where I can work on it. But it all works!

Yeah, Scotty, space is limited here, years before, we´ve had another living place, with a garage that was about 7 x 4 meters, and 4 meters in the high, i had have 3 Kawa, and a car lift in, ...and my workshop machines,..but, as sometimes happen in life, due to special circumstances, we had to move to another living place.....and off season, one bike is behind the car, and one in front off, were a littel space is, to wrench on it,..or, by open door, more space to work on it. But it´s all ok for me, and i am happy, that my bikes not must park under open skies

06 Mar 2025 00:15Scotty 10x19 is about what I have, in the UK that is quite generous for a single garage. It sure makes you space conscious when trying to do stuffJoe, I understand about small garages. Our house was built in 1936 when garages were sized to fit a Model A Ford, about 10ft x 19ft. Soon after we moved in 30 years ago, I pulled my pickup part way into the garage to change the oil on a rainy day. Only to discover I couldn't open either door to get out!

An overall summary:
Most of it was actually a kind of cosmetic work, what was really badly corroded was the front master brake cylinder, or rather the entire brake system, which I overhauled or completely replaced. The engine was also moderately oxidized on the outside. Unfortunately, the paint could not be saved, there were too deep scratches and damage.
Rear fender was "dead", spotted with zillion rust points, carbs been with tight rotted sliders, rusted chake levers more than dirty bowls, ( masses of dissolved and disintegrated shit),
But all in all it was within limits, the engine was really clean inside, timing chain + rollers were tight, cylinder inside rust-free, (even the visible engine studs of the cylinder were still "brightly galvanized"! - All the electrics worked perfectly, the motorcycle was obviously not too damp...!Sure, the 4-2 exhaust-system is not so pretty: Some scratches, (bad on r.h. rear), chrome is in relative medium-condition, but no rust holes, or flaking chrome, for first, i can live withit,..and for second, i still have a brand new Marving 4-1 in reserve here
