Pete good comment - Weird, I always get that comment, there doesn't seem to be a middle ground, someone either likes or hates the the looks of the Z1R. I have to admit the standard Z1R or Z1 doesn't appeal to me as much as a modified one, maybe it had something to do with surviving the bad brakes and handling.

Second permanent bike 1989 FJ1200 dyno'd 140RWH, great bike.
Third ride is now the Frankenstein 1981 GPZ1100B1, 1983 fully recon motor fitted LOVE THIS BIKE
Forth my work bike FJ1200 1989 (same type as FJ above)

Very true, maybe some ideas are so ahead of 'their' time and it takes us quite a few years later to catch on. ..think Suzuki katana 1000 for example.
Difference here, whilst the Katana went into obsolescence, only the iconic 16 valve GSX motor went further onto many great things.
The Z 1 R, the first bike (?) kawasaki four with sharp lines. front and rear fairings and 4-1 pipe plus discs all around was the template for the whole z KZ GPz twin shock lineage.

Thanks again Dave, if anyone has any questions about any of the mods please let me know, No-one seems to mention the 36mm CV carbies from the ZRX (with a slight mod), these carbies give the bike incredible response as well as "Go", fuel economy at present gives minimum 220km out of my 13 ltr tank (dry) and a maximum I got with my other half on the back, warm day freeway at (steady) 100kph I worked out 300 km would be possible.
When touring I use the 18ltr tank.

1980 LTD 1000..,1976 LTD 900, have the 1000&900 now. the rest are previous= 1978 KZ 650 B.., 1980 Yamaha XT 500..,1978 Yamaha DT 400.., 1977 Yamaha yz 80..,Honda trail ct 70.., Honda QA 50...5-1/2 hp brigs & straton CAT chopper mini bike...3-1/2 hp mini bike (WHEN GAS WAS ABOUT 45 CENTS A GALLON)!!!!
