Question for the experts. I disassembled the brake calipers and 2 out of 3 pistons have a little scoring on them. I’m attaching some pics; and I’d love to avoid buying new ones. I’ve tried some steel wool, but no effect.

Of course, seals and gaskets will be new.

Replace or reassemble? What’s your opinion?

Engine is now ready. As soon as I finish the electrics. I’ll do carbs and that will be it for trying to start it.

i installed the front forks yesterday and I noticed that the bottom part of one of them sits a bit higher than the other. Both have fresh suspension oil and new seals. They compress nicely and one the wheel is on, they will both be levelled; but sounds weird to me that they  are not exactly the same.

Nice progress !  it might be the picture angle ,but if it is much difference i would double check the fork.Have you tried to grab the lower forks and see if there are play movement .Maybe the damperrod inside has came lose.Im no fork expert but usually there is a allen screw underside the fork that goes up into the fork and holds the damperrod  check that the screw is not loose. also if the forks are not exactly the same hight in the triple tree you can end up having the brake hang on so the wheel not spin/rotate freely.I have had that once and dicover that one fork was sitting 2mm higher and the front wheel dragged.Once made them same hight in tripple tree the wheel moved easy again

Thank you Rolf. Yes, I tried that last night and both bottom Allen bolts are well bolted (actually with some thread locker). There is no play in the fork. I’ve done some sets of forks already (maybe 5-6) and never had this height difference. I’ll get the wheel on and see what happens.

Can someone help me to identify this part and where should it go? 
it was stored in the same bag as the clutch release mechanism (clutch cable into the engine), but doesn’t seem to belong there.

Looks like part of the clutch push rod. I'd go solid.

I don't know which clutch pusher you have. Some after market kits use an aluminum piece that centers the 3-piece needle thrust bearing. This type uses a steel shaft that is pressed into the aluminum and the other end engages the long clutch push rod. Mine came loose so used some loctite to hold the shaft in place. Just a guess.

Yes. It’s an extension of the rod. Without it, the rod will not reach the mechanism.

The stock fork when hanging free should be 840mm from the top cap to the centre of the axle
