Front / Drive Sprocket not coming loose

I wouldn't put a extension pipe on any ratchet. It's a good way to break one. Use a breaker bar. Besides, the handle is usually longer. Put the cheater pipe over that handle. I used a old extended fork tube from a BSA (about 2.5') over my 1/2" breaker bar to break my cs nut loose. I heard a crack and wasn't sure if it was the bar or socket breaking. It was the nut loosening fortunately. Yeah you will work up a sweat doing it. Try a tool rental place for an impact.
It's was definitely a bad idea on my part to put the pipe over the ratchet, but at that point I didn't care if it broke...
I've never used a breaker bar so i'll look in to that as well as the tool rental. I need to buy a compressor anyways....
Thanks.

if you dont have an impact, load the bike up and take it somewhere that does.
IR-232 is the best bang for your buck in a 1/2 IMHO or an IR212 for a 3/8 drive

I won't buy crap from Harbor Freight generally so no warranty as to if this tool works. I have a Dewalt tool similar and it works great. You'll need every bit of the 240ft/lb rating to ever break loose anything, so don't try any smaller rating tools or you'll just be throwing money away.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Put the back wheel and old chain on and have somebody hold the rear brake to hold the sprocket while you twist it.Ok, I tried the homemade tool for this and it broke the bolts that i put through the chain to keep it from moving before that fuckin nut came loose. aaarrrrggggggggg
so far i've tried a pipe extender on the end of my ratchet, PB Blaster, light taps with a hammer to get it to loosen, banging the handle of my ratchet with a hammer, and general 93 degree weather wrenching.
any other ideas short of buying more expensive tools?
i'll look into an impact driver and see if anyone has a impact gun...
Another trick is to put a socket and breaker bar on the nut and then use a hammer to rap the side of the breaker bar. A lot of times moderate tapping will free a nut that severe twisting can't move.
CAUTION: if some dufus put red Loctite on it, you will need to heat the sucker. I don't know, but a lot of people loctite that nut.

I don't think the nut has ever come off. The sprocket is really worn and the bike has low miles for its age, so I don't think it has locktite on it.... but i'm always surprised what P.O.'s manage to do.

Why not just load the bike in the truck and take it someplace so the mechanic can walk outside and knock the nut loose with an air impact? Sounds like a less painful remedy than trying to hurt yourself with pipes on ratchets and such.
Yeah really. C'mon folks, this is a 2 second job.
