Taking the seat and having an upholsterer re-do it so there is more height where you sit might help, just be sure as this isn't cheap and can cost even more to change.

If you're good at fab work, you can make just about anything you want work.

I should mention that I've never really tried to do much motorcycle fab work, so I'll be asking lots of questions on here myself. But Saggs, if you are good at it, then pretty much any seat you want, you can get. The people on this forum are amazing, and I'm certain they can, if not tell you step by step how to do it, point you in the direction of someone who can, get you riding comfortable on your bike.

Mtbspeedfreak- is your bike an LTD that you put the flat seat on? I did ride a 650 sr and liked that position.
