thanks for that tyler :) .
it means alot.
no one is with me when i am out in my shop sweating details and trying to get fits and finishes "just right".
so a bunch of time people see an end product and don't realize that someone had to worry about every cut, cope, bend, fit, weld, clearance, look to get the usable end result.

just the setup and checking time gets to be stupid sometime.

i really love to help folks keep these old bikes going and it is real cool too get to see the final procuct being used and know that you had a part in it.

i don't get to do everything i want to my projects like i would like to.
but being a member of this forum has allowed me to make some good friends, and work on some really cool bikes all over the world that i would not have had the opportunity to do otherwise.

Just the truth Leon. :)

I can imagine about the setup time, when I did my crankcase on the mill last year that took a while, to get the mill head angled just right and then the holes lined up perfectly. I find it therapeutic though, probably cause I don't have to do it every day. Machining is pretty much the only thing I have any patience for.

This is the reason that I take my time on my stuff that I do at the house or after hours in the shop. It's nice when you have the time to really slow down and make sure that everything is right with no external pressure.

It sucks when you have a shop foreman standing behind your back telling you that the Space Shuttle is waiting for your parts to take off. Wouldn't be waiting if the first guy had made them right, Ahem! Well I guess I won't have that problem any more, now will I?

i have this problem with thinking that i can do stuff about twice as fast as i actually can :pinch: .

which ends up causing me all kinds of anxiety.

you can't rush machine and fab work,it takes how ever long it takes.
just because you told someone you could do it in four and it takes eight, doesn't mean you can force it to happen any quicker.

some times i feel like i am flopping around in my body while i force myself to go slow and double check everything.i cause myself alot of stress making myself slow down.

that is better than causing myself stress by ruining parts and making scrap out of perfectly good material  .

your post is like a mind meld....I came here tonight just to find out what to do to change to a new modern mono shock on my 1980 KZ650, and this is just the solution.

I too want a rear disk, but i really want the new KLX 250S wheels with that blue anodized look.

so I'll be watching your post, and if it all works, can I get the specs, that you didn't post?

I have a machine shop here that can literally do anything.

thanks

love bikes, and anything with a engine/motor, and i love the ride way more than the destination, unless I have a passenger, then that's all that matters.
