why?

Why not.. it's trick, light, strong and expensive... I have been asked to make a few parts in Ti and then the guys get the price tag and they don't seem to need it anymore. LOL

Did ever think that maybe you've been doing it wrong all these years?

By the way, smclem has front and rear suspension with wheels off a R6 (I think) listed in the For Sale section, and he's only asking $250 for it.

R6 forks, sure. R6 triple on a kz650, not so much. Your KZ650 has 60mm of triple clamp offset, and a 2005 R6 has 30mm of fork offset. Thats a HUGE change and a formula for very slow handeling. Irishwill has made triples with stock (KZ1000) offset so correct triples have been made. You may want to send him a PM about this swap.

Good Luck,
Jon

Great idea! You could even put a ratchet on the bungie cord and make it adjustable!

Do you already have the rear wheel you will be using?

I can tell you that a 83-85 GPz750 aluminum swing arm is an easy fit to the 650 frame, has a 17mm axle, easily modified for dual shocks (if desired), and will take up to at least a 4.5" rim with 160 tire. I have used them on a dual shock KZ650 SR, dual shock 1980 KZ750E, and a monoshock 1980 KZ750G twin.
