Always over build. When cutting corners,it will always come and bite you in the A$$. Your safety is the most important thing.

Agreed... X2. Thus my decision to weld and recenter to the right press fit. Still will use the Loctite even with the correct fit. I never want it to come apart again.

@ tripple digit speeds... Oh hell no with locktite concept...

Do your self a huuuuuuuuuuuuuugggge favor, as you already mentioned, "It just seems like if I am going to go that far, just have a new bushing made and be done with it."......

YES INDEED.... ;) Take it apart, get a Steel bushing fabbed up for ideal fit and pressed in, weld the stem and bushing in on the bottom and have some piece of mind...

Let me ask this, how is that any different in the end? Still going to have steel pressed into aluminum? Whether it is a steel shaft pressed into a aluminum bushing or a steel shaft welded to a steel bushing, which is then pressed into a aluminum triple tree? At that point, the steel bushing has simply enlarged the steel stem to press into the lower triple.... I am simply enlarging the steel shaft OD by welding to the OD all the way around for the depth of the press, then cutting it down on the lathe to the larger size to fit the press.

Bushing and shaft become one piece for starters. Also stronger/tighter bind to keep shaft from spining when tightening top nut... Then throw into the mix aluminum is softer than steel.

To get that coupling pressed into the bottom tree, had to use 20 Ton press...

But hey, your build, whatever works and you're good with it all the better.

Well will have a .002" interference fit now. Stem will be pressed into the aluminum triple just like a factory ZRX. As a side note, the stem on the ZRX press from the top down unlike your ZX6 which presses from the bottom up and has the step feature to keep it from pulling up through the top. Will use the big press at work to put it together.

When doing press fits, I use some 3-in-one oil as a light lubricant(or in your case red Loctite). Keep in mind, if you're using the bearing fit Loctite, it will set up quickly due to the generated heat from squeezing.

Yeah I don't think it will be required to use that loctite, but figure it can't hurt. Based on my materials attributes books, I took it a tad on the aggressive side with the +.002" interference for the temp ranges the triple will encounter, but I wanted a fit that I never should have to take again since it was steel into aluminum. I appreciate the insight on the press technique.
