Would a Z1R 18" front wheel bolt onto an MKII?

I have the wheel and the bike, but they are on opposite coasts at the moment. Has anyone here tried this, or know if the forks, rotors etc are similar?

Hello, Yes this can be a direct swap. But think about it 1st?
What is the project? To match your MK II rear wheel? Drag bike for an 18" slick? Lower the bike? These wheels are worth good money!!$$$.
They are 1978 only in 18" the 80 went to a 19"
Could fund your build a little if you sold the 18" then buy something similar.
Just my opinion, But I have no idea what your build is.
The rotors are the same also thinner 5mm.
I have these 1978 rotors on a 76 KZ900 wheel hub. And I ruined them! Purists! :woohoo:  Because their mine!
I countersunk them for 45 degree flat heads. Do not make fine thread metrics so I put 3/8" course heli-coils in the hub.

Went thru 25 of these in 40 yrs.
I SOLD OUT! THE KAW BARN IS EMPTY.

I prefer the look of the 18, and it would match the rear. Leaving the bike essentially stock otherwise. Has a Kerker, I'll do brake lines and maybe a good pair of shocks.

Looking for a Z1R wheel to buy, or do you already have a line on one?

I've got an 18" Z1R front wheel on my kz650c2, so I don't see why it won't fit the MKII.
Direct swap to the 650, the 650 rotors fitting the Z1R wheel, or Z1r rotors can be used on a 650 wheel too.

Sorry I'm so late with this reply...missed this thread completely. Anyway, I installed a Z1-R 18" on my MKII a few years back. Bolted right up, no problems at all. I changed the fender though....your stock fender will look weird with an 18" wheel. I used the Z1-R speedo drive too, not sure how much of a difference it would really make though.

Does the z1r run the smaller rotirs like the dual disk kz650? Or 12in rotors ?

I'm nearly positive they are the same size as the MKII rotors. I had the Z1-R rotors on my MKII for a while but sold them and went back to the MKII rotors.

The Z1R front rotors should be the same diameter as the 650C rotors.
Paul/baldy has them bolted to his kz650C.
