Your engine RPM comes from your front wheel?
I'm going to assume that was an error your statement.

Doesn't a tachometer tell you your speed ? If not my speedo cable comes from my front wheel
I don't have a rev counter cable coming from my engine .

Connect it to the speedo. The tach might be electrical.

Is the bike a GT750 Shaft? Can you post pics of your meters & front wheel speedo drive?
Your bike probably has a mechanical drive speedometer & electronic tachometer. There are a few 1000 models that have an electronic speedometer, but they still have a large mechanical drive unit at the front wheel along with a speedo "cable". The Kawasaki electronic tachs from back in the day usually have a sensor wire connected to one of the wires going to the ignition coils. There are electronic speedometers that can be retrofitted, but i don't know much about them. They usually have a sensor that has to be installed at the front wheel.

Your bike has the standard type meters & speedo drive gearbox. the speedometer ratio is probably 2240 revs = 1 mile. that info may be stamped in ink on the back. the speedo drive may need repair or replacing. The tach drive appears to have been damaged & disabled. not sure. ??? ... FYI. the pilot cover between the meters is the same as the 81-83 KZ650-CSR.
You'd probably need an aftermarket speedo with a ratio that's listed as 2240@60mph or 60kmh = 1400RPM. or something like that. I guess wiring up an electronic tachometer ought to be straight forward. I guess get one that has a signal/sensor wire that connects to one of the ignition coil wires.
just throwing it out there. aftermarket speedometer gauge set w mech speedo & elec tach. ZRX 1995-2008
these could be cheap junk. not sure, but likely. ??? .... oem meters might could be swapped in later. ???

Really nice, thanks martin, the clocks in the link look sweet as,
Oh and yes it is shaft driven. But still not sure if it's a kz750e as the engine numbers suggest or if it's a bitsa! I was told it's half gt half plastic pig (reliant)

Another option. the late model KZ1000-P Police meters would probably be a decent match. sold in the USA up to 2005.
note: your meters may not be stock. I have no idea as the GT 750 wasn't sold in the USA.
Engine numbers. I think the factory shaft drive engines begin with KZ750NE.
At cyclechaos.com the 750-N Spectre & 750-F1 Ltd shaft are listed thusly.
The chain drive engines begin with KZ750EE. including the later decades' ZR750 air cooled models.
