1976 KZ750 Rear Reservoir Removal to clean the ports was created by bctrip
I'm helping my son work on a KZ750 that sat for a long long time. He has done well getting it running, clutch working, etc, but we are having issues with the rear brake that are similar to this old post:
www.kzrider.com/forum/5-chassis/409303-r...issin-me-off?start=0
The one thing I need to verify is if the Plastic Reservoir is removable and if so what is the recommended way to that without breaking it. Assuming it's pressed fitted, but I've tried pulling, prying, rocking and even a strap and it won't budge. Before I go any further I wanted make sure it's removable
The reason, I think, I need to remove it is to get to the 2 Ports under it, Relief & Supply, since I think one or both are gummed up with the brake fluid that harden.
See attached picture of it.
Also if there are any hints to cleaning the ports I will take them too.
Thanks for any help!

It is, there is a plastic bottom with some holes in it if you look inside. Take a small hex wrench and pull it up, it should dislodge and allow access to the screws that hold the plastic reservoir. Do you have a manual yet?

I use old brake fluid to clean mine and whatever qtips, brushes if they ain't too bad. Kerosene if it's war on the crapola.

I should clarify, I use old unused brake fluid because it's hydroscopic and everyone knows that that's bad except unless you use it too clean out old brake components. That's about the only thing it's good for.

Wow that was a quick reply, thanks ! He has the service manual, I was impressed for a teenager, but I didn't see anything about removing the reservoir. I attached the pictures of what it does show.
I did see multiple drain holes in the bottom of the reservoir. So just to make sure I understand what you are saying, use a "open end wrench" to slide under the plastic reservoir to pry and lift it. Just confused by the statement to "use a hex wrench to lift it and then there are screw to remove". Seems like once I lift it, it should be able to be removed. I'm sure it will make sense once I figure it out as things always do.

That's okay, you are being cautious and that's good. A small Allen key is what I meant to say.

Oh, and if you still aren't sure, I have3 of these on my bench right now and I'll take pics tomorrow. If something doesn't go right I'll send you some parts no charge. Any time a teen digs in and his dad helps, I'm there man.

You'll likely still need a rebuild kit tho, in fact, count on it. Or , some just opt to replace the unit with a new master
