Ugg, yes it’s as simple as that. I just used one of those little clips you open like a sardine can with and it pops right up

I pull up through a hole located near the perimeter of the inside plastic circle. It comes up with no real force. It can pop up and out so make sure you are ready for that.

Under that piece you'll find 2 Philips head screws. It's not a bad idea to have some impact driver style Philips bits around because They are hardened and make stripping the head less likely.

Well unfortunately this one doesn't want to pop out. I'm pulling hard enough to put stress marks on the plastic plate. I've tried to pull from all the holes and same issue.
I will keep messing with it and if I can buy another I might just force it.
Thanks for all your help!

Nah, put up a profile pic, maybe of the project or whatever. Keep us updated too if you think of it. I got a free bike on the 4th of July from Craigslist so it's all good. I'm happy to help. I'll check part numbers later and if there is any concern I'll take measurements. I do recall some bolt hole sizes being different but we'll see.

Got to love that deal on Craiglist.
I will post a pic. I also read and had him read your post Stay Alive, thanks for that also! He lives up in the UP, so beautiful riding conditions, but not only people to worry about lots of animals. I plan to have him sign up in the forum . I will keep you updated
