Locating a rear brake rotor...solved...a KZR member sent me one...

The one still mounted to the rear wheel looks like it might be okay. Is it in good enough condition that YOU would use it? If so...how much?

the one on the wheel is the same one as shown off the wheel, I removed it to get a pic of the back....
$25 includes shipping if you think you can use it.
I have another one on a parts bike, but it's in storage right now. Might be able to check on that one later in the week.

Well Bob_z1, that rotor looks almost as badly grooved as the one I have. Any chance you can get a picture of the other one?

If they could be turned down on a lathe it would be worth having but the min thickness allowed is 6mm which is what they are when they are new. So in other words they can't be turned down.

I expected a used rotor to have some lines and scrathes in it, but not really deep groves. Am I being too picky? Do you think its usable?

I went out and took a look at the one on my bike and it looks to be in good shape.No grooves. Want it? Any other parts you need off these bikes?

racer54..If its street worthy I'd sure like to have it. How much?

Bob_79KZ if you need to resurface rotors, take them to an engine machine shop and refinish them on a flywheel refacer, instead of a brake lathe making sure the thickness stays uniform. It takes off only a few thou, leaving a nicer finish without chattering, eliminates the phonograph record groove effect, takes out the hard spots better, and gives you really smoooooooth braking for about $20 - $30 a rotor

Keep in mind that the rear rotor on the shaftie is a unique part. It is held on the wheel by seven 8mm x 30mm (1.25 pitch) bolts and the regular KZ1000 rotors have the retaining bolts farther in and there are less of them.

WG: yep, that's my luck alright. I also used to love Studebakers, Hudsons and others that you can no longer find parts for. If its weird, I'll end up with one sooner or later.

Its hell when one piece is holding up a whole project.

The KZ1300 also used this rotor. Kawasaki made one other bike which used one part the KZ1000E used.
