I found this bike on craigslist in Sierra Vista, Arizona, and picked it up this past Sunday and brought it back here to phoenix where i will do some work on it and get it to what my version of road worthy is. Being i have pretty high standards for women and vehicles alike, this bike will be CLEAN and COMPLETELY mechanically sound. The bike needs a new seat which doesn't bother me much being as i think the current one is ugly as sin! The bike came with a new front tire which appears to be to tall and is for an enduro and can be seen in the background in some of the pictures and a new battery. Along with the battery and tire, a full kerker exhaust came on it instead of the original exhaust which i asked if he had and was a no-go.
The past owner said something about running the tank dry and sucking something into the carbs and does not run correctly. I myself have no tried to start the bike, just made sure it turned over and that was good enough for me until i could get it home and work on it. The past owner also said that the tank has previously been coated on the inside and i am thinking that they just painted the inside for some very odd reason and the gas ate the paint and the gunk go sucked into the carbs or something along those lines. Jordan has a set of carbs that i will be trading him for when i come back so SD next week for the end of harvest.
My plans for the bike are as follows:
First get the bike running top-notch.
Second is use to the bike and hone my riding skills before i get to crazy with things.
Third is do a paint job to more of my liking to clean things up in my eyes.
Fourth is to do inverted forks and either a gixxer swing arm and mono shock like jordans, or possibly even a single sided swing arm if i feel ambitious.
Fifth and final is a big bore, possibly a 1075 or maybe even larger depending on how crazy i want to get.
I am excited to be a new member to this forum and hope to learn alot about the old kawi's and share my experiences with the rest of the forum. I am sure I will be asking lots and lots of questions so hang in there! :silly:
Feel free and ask any and all questions!
It is a 1974 kz900 with 16,700 miles and a clean texas title.

Are you sure its a 74, if so it has a lot of parts grafted from later years. Either way it is worth what you paid and I am sure you will have some fun with the project. Jordan must have spread the KZ bug to you. Congrats.

I had e-mailed and querried into a few things... The CL images where blurry as hell, couldn't figure out how the hell this was a 1974 Z-900 when it seemed an LTD!
After speaking with the owner, just wasn't what I'm looking for so left it for another worthy buyer... Glad it turned up here, will be interesting to see how the old girl turns out... :woohoo:
The bike seems pretty clean, good find!
