Sorry, I had to post this and I promise I won't post any more about technical things. So check this out as a follow up to my no start issue I presented earlier in the post.

My dad came over today and he helped me adjust the points for timing. Also, compression checked out with the gauge. I told him I successfully shot the ignition circuit via DVM & test light. I was getting signal at the plug wires, but no visible spark. He grinned at me and asked if I had charged my "new" battery I bought a couple weeks ago. Of course not, LOL (I know better BTW). Because I don't have a battery charger (I know, don't laugh), I charged it up with my truck via jumper cables. He nodded and told me to carry on. Mind you, the carbs are crappily varnished (I took them apart when I first got the bike, but haven't rebuilt them yet, and tried to use a bit of carb cleaner to clean out the orifices as I don't have an air compressor (I know, I know). Next we tried to start it with the electronic ignition, but not enough fuel was getting to the carbs. So the next best thing was to shoot some carb spray through the air intake in a back and forth motion :). Holy BGeez, guess what? Yep, it fired right up!!! It sounded great for those few moments. No pigging, knocking, etc... just sounded like the way it should. Nice and smooth... Both of us had huge grins on our faces because this bike had been sitting for at least 10-15 yrs. These bikes are memories from his youth so this was awesome. Next step is to get this thing registered, rebuild the carbs, and off we go for the rest of the rebuild. :P
