Hey Steve, I have my carbs off the engine to some, they really needed it!!! But for the life of me can't find cc stamp by the intakes. Do you happen to have an example? Thank you sir!

A J model cylinder block is pictured, which is visually similar to Z1 and KZ900 and KZ1000 cylinder blocks.

Good Fortune! :)

CoxUSMC wrote: Another question: I was told it is an 1980 Ltd, but from the wiring and the frame I'm pretty sure it is a '77. How can I know 100% since it doesn't have a "full" VIN?

KZT00A-510284 probably is the "full" VIN.

Per www.zedder.com :
Year & Model '78 KZ1000-A2
(USA MFR)
KZTOOA507027 - 515034
Engine No. Range KZTOOAE042501 - 058140
Engine No. Location RH top crankcase, below carburetor
Cylinder Mark 1.015L
Cylinder Mark Location Front RH corner

KZT00A-510284 falls within the USA manufactured '78 KZ1000-A2 models which have VIN's ranging from KZTOOA507027 - 515034

Good Fortune! :)

Would seem to be a '78 KZ1000-A2 chassis with an engine from some other model (Z1-KZ900) to be more precisely determined by the complete ENGINE serial number.

But, regardless of the ENGINE serial number, it's also possible that a KZ1000 cylinder block from a later model was installed onto whatever the 903cc engine started out as.

For example -- Z1 engine with KZ1000 cylinder block in a 1978 KZ1000 chassis.

Good Fortune! :)

That narrows it down to a '78 KZ1000-A2 chassis with an engine from some other model (Z1-KZ900) to be more precisely determined by the complete ENGINE serial number.

Now, if we can just convince swest and others with a sense of humor that the engine's not from a Porsche Spyder.
