Anyone out there know what the engine would weigh in this bike? I'm going to be pulling it but I'm unable to get help with it.

Trying to wrestle the engine by yourself can be quite a struggle. It is heavy, unwieldy, and lacks convenient handles.
One popular way to do it solo is to remove the fuel tank, battery, and side covers, then put down an old mattress or some thick old moving blankets on the floor of your garage and lay the bike on its side. Remove the motor mount bolts and lift the frame off of the engine.

After removing all you can to lift the frame off by yourself, it would give you the opportunity to clean them while you wait for parts for your mail order princes!!!

If you're going to take the head off, it's a lot easier to do it now then the bottom end is easy to pull out. Do it myself. I'm 63.

Thanks for the replies I'll be removing it the way you all suggested, but I still need to pick it up so I can get it onto a table to do some other work on the engine.

Once you get the carbs, head, and block removed, they and the bottom end can pretty easily be picked up and placed on your workbench.

I'm not intending to remove the heads or block as the bike runs quite nicely. The work I will be doing on the engine is to clean up and polish such parts as the cases and smaller parts.

So why would you pull the engine, just to clean and polish it? Yikes! Trust me, you can clean and polish the engine without removing it or removing anything connected to it. Ed

The reason for pulling the engine is to build the frame into a hard tail, as well as deal with wiring reduction ( getting rid of the mass of duplicated wiring that is not being used).
