One popular way to do it solo is to remove the fuel tank, battery, and side covers, then put down an old mattress or some thick old moving blankets on the floor of your garage and lay the bike on its side. Remove the motor mount bolts and lift the frame off of the engine.

So why would you pull the engine, just to clean and polish it? Yikes! Trust me, you can clean and polish the engine without removing it or removing anything connected to it. Ed
