If you ping Leon (531BlackSheep) I think he is making a shaft I designed to slide the ZRX swinger in place in the KZ chassis. Just need to slice about 1/8" off the right hand side of the swinger pivot tube and push the seal in until it is flush. Slide this shaft in place and run two grade eight 5/8" bolts in from either side and your done. Then comes chain alignment....

Well my good buddy Dunnell has talked me into putting exhaust on my Ducati, this will EAT the flatslide carb money for the KZ. Ducati does not make it easy, you have to re-flash ECU, add a power commander, and Dyno the bike to get the most out of a header.



This should kill track days on the R6 and the KZ project for a few months.

I am betting this is the longest running KZ project in history. I have refurbished at least three other bikes while the KZ project has been going on. Not to mention basically resto-modding the S2 Gixxer.

Looks like I will be pulling the stock KZ carbs and taking a second look at why the number 4 carb is jacked up.

Flatslide or smoothbores?

either are a major improvement.
do you like the old skool look =roundslides
or the modern high tech look = flatslides

to me that is the main thing.

flatslide reportedly "clack"at idle do to the slide getting pulled to the front of the slide bores by intake pressure .

I bought a new set of 34 flatslides and couldn't stand the clacking. I think better tuning would have limited the noise but I just gave up and went back to my 33 smoothbores. I really didn't like the sound. My head is ported and I have larger valves and I hear that makes the clacking worse...don't know. I bought a nice set of 35mm Keihin roundslide smoothbores that I hope to try soon. Lots of others love the flatslides...and they are supposed to be much easier to tune.

Just wanted to give you my $.02

Thank you, I did not know they made noise at idle, and can see that making me nutty. I am not against the flat slides yet, especially if easier to tune.

This forum is so cool, almost anything you can think of has been done already by somebody on the forum. I finally have the title, and just need carbs, I have had the thing running several times, but each time something strange happens with the carbs, this seal or that needle, etc.
Gonna spend the money on new carbs, and 900 bucks is a lot, so the more info the better. I will read the comparison.

New carbs also have seals and needles, etc., that likely will sooner or later require some attention.

It's often the case that a set of carbs may be returned to serviceable condition, and perhaps at relatively small cost.

What's wrong with the carbs at hand?

The old carbs are ok, but I am just tired of screwing with them.

Cool, you'll have to let us know how it turns out. I am putting my engine back together with 1015 pistons and APE 410 cams. I am going to use the stock carbs for now but I want a bigger set.
