Your way past stock on this build, I’d suggest a Pingel petcock.

A bit pricey. Just went to their website and priced a valve and adapter plate that would fit. Over $150 shipped. Tell you what... come on over, I give you a nice cold beer, but before you finish drinking it you have to convince my wife that a $150 petcock absolutely has to happen. Deal? B)

I will soak the whole assembly in Carburetor Cleaner for a day or two first. The rebuild kit is only $23 (plus tax & shpg). Find a better o-ring, some messing about. If the screen and frame live through cleaning I will run with them. If they get ruined, I guess I get to buy a really expensive petcock...

I didn’t mean to offend you. Just helping with options. RedLine sells a replacement, cost though is similar to the Pingel.

I might have one. It would be off of a 750H tank, I haven't looked at it yet, but if you are considering a used one let me know and I can see if its good.

I am considering all options. The Pingel has a racey look to it, but budget always has input to the decision. Funny saying that since this build has taken on a life of it's own. Apologies to Mikaw, the advice on this forum is above any other I have seen. Either way, I am commited to finishing this build. Ridden before anything else, damn the torpedoes... full speed ahead.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationIf the screen is really separated then for $10.00 it might be worth a try to get a new screen filter. Might be able to disassemble it to get the o-rings.

While the petcock is soaking (or desolving!) in the carburetor dip, I thought I would post up my mounting solution for my gps speedo. I am using the stock gage mounting bracket since I am retaining the oem tach. The speedo was advertised as a motorcycle or car application. Unfortunately it came as a panel mount. I didn't want to fab a new bezel or panel for it since I would never get it looking decent. Here is the back of the new gage.


An unusual configuration for this application in my opinion. My solution is not a rubber mount, so I hope there aren't any vibration issues.using some steel spacers and set screw collars, I created a larger surface area at the correct height to match the tach. I tack welded the set screws on the collars after tightening, then tack welded them into the stock bracket.

The speedo had a slightly shorter spacing on the mounting studs than the stock set up. And a much smaller diameter thread. This spacer set up allowed the gage to sit flush on top of the plastic stand offs. The centerline doesn't match, but it maximizes the area of contact.


I also had to clearance the stock bracket for the signal cable, and electrical wire connector. This is the tach side for comparison.

In order to increase the mounting suface area at the gage contact point, I found some spacers at the hardware store that fit perfect on the gage.


I painted the outside of the gage semigloss black to match the stock speedo bezel.



It still looks like it is mounted in a frying pan, but from the front of the bike it looks better than I could have fabricated, using both stock gage bezels.

That may be a source for the o-rings. The valve itself won't fit a 750e though since the bolt spacing off (my tank is 44mm bolt spacing). If I did go the Pingel route, I assume I would just have to cap off the vacuum line from the carbs.
