Instead of the metal spacer i would cut and use some rubber spacer out of a rubber tube to get an minimum of damping.

Looks good from the front. It almost looks like you could just cut the front off the stock housing and the new speedo's bezel would just sit flush on it. Then you could tack the old crimp ring on and turn the frypan into more of a pot :)

I found some new fuel line I had left over from a different project. It fits pretty good. I am trimming down the top of the plastic a small amount to gain more thread length.

You have to cut the rubber 2-3 mm longer so the wihte plastic tab didnit touch the steel spacers and the speedo housing sits on the rubbers.

My first attempt. Still had to shave more plastic off to gain some thread length. I cut some new ones for some squish.

Have you thought of trying to fit the stock upper can of your original speedo over the new gauge.
