You probably could Mark. I have never used POR15, so I'm not familiar with it's behavior in a spray gun. I always though of POR15 as a rust neutralizer, designed to be rolled or brushed on bare metal, but you should still be able to spray it. I would think that if you wanted to use POR15, you wouldn't need to use a primer undercoat, just strip to bare metal and spray the POR material on.

i dont know much about por15, but have heard it is very tough.
how about the dp90? would it be easy to touch up? is it any dif than a reg auto paint?

DP90 is an automotive grade primer/sealer made by PPG. It is a catalyzed primer, and is more durable than non catalyzed primers (rattle can stuff)I don't know if POR15 is catalyzed. Like the difference between spot putty (non catalyzed) and plastic body filler (catalyzed). It is easy to touch up, sand with 320 the area where the repair/mod was made, scuff with a scotch brite pad beyond that a bit and spray in your patch.

That sounds like a very good alternative to paint.
Thanks for the info.

As usual, it seems that I always have parallel projects going on in order to keep the build moving forward. Today the postman and UPS man both hooked me up. My $45 Hayabusa brake calipers came in and a certain box from Race Tech got here as well.
Here are the Busa calipers on the left and my GSXR calipers on the right.
Now here's the one I have really been waiting for:
I also stopped at the MC shop on the way home, and picked up a quart of 5wt fork oil. I hope that's right and it seems like I still have some 10wt. I'll get into specifics about all the individual parts in a separate thread where I detail the rebuild of the mono-shock. For now I would like to comment on my experience with Race Tech. I have used their website before as a resource for suspension setup. They have a calculator to help you pick out spring rates here: www.racetech.com/page.aspx?id=53&menuid=61
I decided last weekend that I wanted to rebuild the shock and try out one of their Gold Valve kits. I called their toll free number on Monday, and ordered a new spring and the proper Gold Valve kit for my GSXR shock. The package arrived in perfect condition today, and I must say that I am initially impressed with the quality of the components. They include a very detailed instruction sheet with the kit and it also comes with an instructional DVD. Keep a lookout for a new thread where I rebuild my mono-shock and install the Gold Valve.

Thanks Adam. I have a quick update with no pictures tonight. I learned a lot from my first coat of epoxy primer on the frame. Having that nice, even color, and a good sample of the sort of coverage that I have, combined with some study of my mock-up photos has told me where to touch up the body work on my frame. I decided to use a little filler to finish off a couple of areas that are visible. I got all of the filler blocked in, and I scuffed the original coat of primer. I also prepped the swingarm for paint. With any luck, I can lay down three good coats of paint tomorrow, and I'll be ready to begin the final assembly once I rebuild my shock.
I also scored the proper set of Race Tech springs for my GSXR fork on ebay for $75, which is a cool $35 savings.

Good news today. I got my three coats of paint on the frame and the swingarm. They're still drying, but hopefully I can pull them down in time to get some pictures before I loose the daylight today.
I also watched the video that came with my shock valve kit, and that is some good information. It walks you through rebuilding of a rear shock with or without their valve kit. Good information from professionals in there.

Yep...they will all be trying to get some of those great graphics you incorporated into the paint job. But the thing that will make them all drool is those top shelf brakes you are using. Simple, light and un-obtrusive to the eye. they will all want some of those bad boys! Those spoke decorations will soon be seen on a few bikes I'm sure also. You are always on the forefront of future paint scheme ideas. Good job! lol

Check out the transformation that the paint job made.
Pretty cool huh. I bet you guys will all be jealous when this baby starts tearing up the street.
