Re: Testarossa's 78 KZ1000 Fighter Build

i managed to plug a fairly sizable hole in my frame tonight.
I laid the motor on it's side on top of an old tire and dropped the frame in place over the top. Thanks to my frame bracing, I have to remove the carbs and the camshaft cover. Most of my mounting bolts need to be replaced, but hey it's in.
I also received my new fork springs this afternoon. I went ahead and installed them before I started playing around with the motor. So now the front suspension is all squared away. Fresh grease in the new roller neck bearings, new fork oil, proper springs per race tech calculations, and new fork seals. I think that I may take my top clamp to work and mill a little material out from the bottom to allow just a little more height up front.
On a sad note, I crunched one of my new cam end plugs while changing shims.
I was a dumbass and laid it beside a cam lobe and when I started to turn the motor over to check a different valve, CRUNCH! Or as Leon would say SNAFU, cattywampus, or wamperjawed.

Fantastic Josh. Bummer about the cam plug, was it a fancy aluminum one? If it was, I bet someone here has a spare. If not, I have a set from APE I can send you. I'm not going to need them any time soon
Good work getting the engine in solo, did you chip your new paint at all?

Naw it was a plain ole black rubber coated plug. No need to send me your APE plugs, I need to order from Z1 anyway. I may have put a small ding in one of my brace tubes, but I couldn't really tell last night. I was soo tired and the light is terrible in my garage. I expect to have to touch up some areas, that's why I wanted the semi-gloss. I'll probably know more when I can get the wheels under it, and roll it out in the sun.

At this point it is what it is. You're picking up speed now, and I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you have a first start in 3 weeks
